General
National Museum & Gallery, Cathays Park map
Cardiff's museum has a wide range of exhibits, and often hosts specialist
touring exhibitions. Admission is free
Museum of Welsh Life, St Fagans map

An open air museum that shows how welsh people lived during the last 500
years, with many original buildings from various points in history. The museum
is in the grounds of St Fagan's castle, a stately home which is also open
to the public. Admission is free.
Cardiff Castle, City Centre map

Cardiff has an unusual castle, firstly because it is in the city centre,
and also because the different parts of it are from several different time
periods from the Romans to the 20th Century. Check the website for admission
fees.
Castle Coch, Tongwynlais, Cardiff map
Castle Coch meaning "Red Castle" is a Victorian reconstruction
of a Medieval castle and is built built on a wooded hill to the north of the
city.
Llancaiach Fawr Manor, Nelson, Treharris map

This historical manor takes you back 350 years to the time of the civil
war between King and Parliament. Tours of the house are conducted by "servants"
in period costume.
Cosmeston Lakes, Penarth map

This country park is just a few miles south of Cardiff and makes a good
day out for the whole family. Visit the medieval village or just enjoy a walk
round the lakes, wetlands and surrounding countryside. The park also has a
large cafe and children's playground.
Rhondda Heritage Park, Trehafod, Rhondda

A former coalmine, this outdoor museum gives an insight into the unique
character and culture surrounding the coal indusrty in south wales.
Shopping
Queen Street Map
This is Cardiff's main pedestrian shopping street, where you can find
all the shops and facilities you would expect to find in any UK city centre.
St Mary Street Map
Home to Cardiff's famous shopping arcade's, with many interesting and
unique shops and cafe's.
Central Market
This large victorian indoor market has a wide range of stalls selling
everything from fresh fish to CDs and even pets.
Activities
Spin Bowling, City Road map

This ten-pin bowling alley is walking distance from the city centre close
to the main student area. It has a relaxed atmosphere, 10 lanes over 2 floors,
and a bar downstairs. All day bowling is available for £5 during weekdays.
The venue also has big screens which show most major football and rugby games.
